By reading Wildio the reader accepts these terms. The desk tries to keep them short and to write them in the language the desk would use in person. If a reader wants to challenge a clause, the desk would rather rewrite the clause than defend it.
Audience
Wildio is for adult readers, in regions where rummy for stakes is permitted, who are deciding whether to play, how to play, and which platform to read. The desk does not invite readers who are minors, who are in jurisdictions where rummy for stakes is not permitted, or who are excluded from play voluntarily by a self-exclusion order.
The editorial product
The desk publishes reading. The reading is paid for by an editorial subscription and by disclosed referral fees on a small number of platform review pages. The reading is opinion expressed in good faith, dated and signed, with the method behind any number made available on request.
What the desk warrants
- The desk warrants that pieces are dated and signed, and that corrections are dated and visible on the corrections log.
- The desk warrants that the desk will respond to reader mail within the windows published on the contact page.
- The desk warrants that sponsorship is disclosed, and that sponsored content is named at the top of the piece.
- The desk warrants that the desk will not silently expand the data collected under the privacy policy, and that any broadening of collection will be announced before the change takes effect.
What the desk does not warrant
- The desk does not warrant any outcome on a third-party platform. Reviews describe what the desk observed across repeated sessions, dated and stamped; they are not a forecast and not a recommendation.
- The desk does not warrant that a strategy piece will produce any specific win rate for the reader. Variance is real and individual results differ from the desk's simulations.
- The desk does not warrant the uninterrupted availability of the site. The desk commits to publishing a notice on the editorial desk if the site is offline for an extended period.
- The desk does not warrant the accuracy of any third-party platform's claims. The desk reports what the platform publishes and what the desk observed, and the desk notes the gap in plain text on the platform's review page.
Third-party platforms
Where the desk links to a third-party platform, the link is marked as a commercial referral and the reader navigates to the platform on the platform's own terms. The desk is not the operator of the platform, is not a payment intermediary and is not the platform's customer-support agent. The desk's role is editorial only.
Responsible reading
The desk asks readers to read the responsible-play page before depositing a rupee or before requesting a withdrawal. The page lays out the controls the desk recommends every reader set on day one, and lists the outside support lines. A reader who has set a self-exclusion order should not click through a platform link from the editorial site.
Intellectual property
Editorial copy on Wildio is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International licence. Readers may quote and link freely with attribution to the editor and the URL of the piece, for non-commercial reading. Commercial reuse requires a written licence from the desk.
Photographs published on the site are produced by the editorial desk or commissioned from freelance contributors on the same Creative Commons terms. Where a photograph is sourced from a third-party library, the desk publishes the source and the licence on the editorial-desk page. The desk does not publish photographs lifted from third-party platforms without a written release.
Reader conduct
The desk reads every message that arrives at the published addresses. The desk will answer a question that is asked in clear English. The desk will not answer a question that is abusive, that threatens a member of the desk, or that names a third party in a way the desk cannot verify. The desk will not publish reader mail verbatim, in part or in whole, on the editorial desk or anywhere else, without the reader's written permission.
Limits on liability
The desk's liability to a reader is limited to the amount the reader paid the desk for the editorial subscription in the twelve months preceding any claim. The desk is not liable for indirect, consequential or speculative damages arising from a reader's use of a third-party platform reviewed on the site.
Indemnity
The reader agrees to indemnify the desk and the desk's contributors against any third-party claim arising from the reader's use of a third-party platform reviewed on the site, including any claim that the reader's actions on a platform have caused them a specific loss. The desk does not invite the reader to take any action on a platform and the desk does not control the reader's actions once they have left the editorial site.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, India. The desk will, before any litigation, attempt mediation through the desk's published dispute address on the contact page.
Severability
If a clause in these terms is held by a court to be unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue to apply. The desk will rewrite the unenforceable clause to fit the court's reasoning, and the desk will publish the rewrite on the editorial desk before the next quarterly review.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change materially the desk publishes a dated note on the editorial desk. Continued reading after a notice of change signals the reader's acceptance. The desk does not silently expand the desk's rights or shrink the reader's rights; the desk will rewrite the terms to be clearer rather than to be more permissive.
The desk's link policy
The desk links to a small set of platforms and a small set of external resources. The desk marks each link with a rel attribute that describes the link's relationship. Editorial links use the default rel; commercial links use the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener noreferrer" attribute, which is the W3C-endorsed way to mark a commercial referral. The desk does not currently mark editorial links with a nofollow attribute because the desk would rather the reader's search engine treat the editorial link as a citation.
The desk does not currently mark links with a UGC rel attribute because the desk does not host user-generated content. The desk does not currently mark links with a sponsored attribute on editorial links because the desk does not run sponsored editorial pieces on the same page as an editorial link. The desk's link policy is published here so the reader can understand the difference between the two.
Comments and reader submissions
The desk does not host a comment section on the editorial pages. The desk receives reader mail at the published addresses and the desk reads the mail by an editor. The desk does not publish reader mail on the editorial desk without the reader's written permission. The desk does not run a public discussion forum. The desk has decided that the editorial pages are for the desk's reading and the contact page is for the reader's reply; the two are not mixed on the same page.
Co-review and guest authors
Where a piece is co-authored by a guest, the guest's byline is named at the top of the piece and the guest's affiliation is published at the bottom of the piece. The desk's editor reads the piece before publication and the desk's fact-checker reads the piece's numbers. Where a guest author disagrees with the desk's editorial line, the desk publishes the disagreement on the editorial desk and the desk writes a brief editorial note. The desk does not publish a guest piece the desk would not publish under the desk's own byline.
Accessibility of the read
The desk publishes the site with a font size that respects the reader's browser setting. The desk publishes the navigation with a keyboard-accessible focus ring. The desk publishes the alt text on every image. The desk publishes the language tag on the document root. The desk publishes the page in plain English because the desk would rather be read than be quoted. The desk does not currently publish an audio version of the editorial pages; the desk is openly looking for a partner to read the pages aloud.
Reading the terms in practice
The terms are written to be read once and understood. The desk reads the terms before the desk publishes a new piece on the site. The desk reads the terms when a reader writes in with a question about a clause. The desk reads the terms when the desk considers a change to a clause. The reading is the practice; the practice is the reading. The two are not separate.
Where the desk considers a change to the terms, the desk publishes the proposed change on the editorial desk before the change takes effect. The proposed change is open for reader comment for fourteen days. The reader who wants to comment on the proposed change can write to the legal address on this page. The desk reads the comments and the desk responds to the comments on the editorial desk before the change takes effect.
A reader who reads the terms and the reader's notes on the terms will recognise the desk's habit. The desk writes the terms in plain English because the desk would rather answer a clear question than read a lawyer's letter.
